As I remember him best

During my years as his assistant I saw many sides of Bob. I always respected his ability to quickly change hats and take on new responsibilities effortlessly and without complaint. However, what impressed me the most were his daily phone calls to Barb, the kids, and the grandkids. He knew about every after-school activity and he was always picking someone up or dropping them off before and after his long work days. I could never figure out how a man as busy as Bob could be so personally involved with and invested in each person in his life. I learned a lot about life in academia from Bob and I am grateful for my experience with him as a professional. Still, I always was and will remain most inspired by Bob’s seemingly limitless capacity for love.
